Books are fun! The Scholastic Cardigan was inspired by academia, book fairs, and libraries.

I [was] an avid reader growing up. Libraries were my happy place, especially during the summer months. I can still remember the smell of a fresh page or if you’re lucky enough, the familiar feel of a worn out, but smooth cover. I hope with this design, you can bring out your inner nerd and cozy up with a good book by the furnace – or perhaps a cozy corner in your local library.

The pattern is written top down with a circular yoke and is written for seven sizes, to include finished measurements of 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56)” / 80 (90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140) cm. It’s designed to be worn with up to 4” / 10 cm of positive ease for a modern oversized look.

The Scholastic Cardigan is made using Lion Brand Wool Ease, which uses simple stitches so even the new crocheter can have a go at their first garment pattern. Ready to become inspired by color? View the variety of Wool Ease yarn here. You will also need at least six 1” buttons. I choose wooden buttons to complete the cool librarian look, but feel free to let your creativity flow with this design.

You can find the pattern on Ravelry for the time being, as it is included in the newly released Crochet for Me Bundle. However, starting Jan 1, 2023, this pattern will be released on www.taliacrochetcreations.com!
